Hamden Transfer Station Re-Opens 4/22
with Social Distancing Guidelines & Restrictions
Hamden, Conn. - Mayor Curt Balzano Leng and Public Works Director, Craig Cesare, are pleased to announce the re-opening of the Hamden Transfer Station (231 Winter Green Avenue) with newly instated social distancing guidelines and limited operating hours. The Transfer Station will operate Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:30am to 11:30am and 12:30pm – 3:00pm. The facility will re-open 4/22/20.
New restrictions at the Transfer Station have been put in place to ensure the safety of Hamden staff and residents throughout the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hamden residents utilizing the transfer station will be asked to “wait in queue” until the previous resident has finished dropping their refuse. This will cause some additional wait time, and the Town asks residents to be patient with the process.
Additionally, upon approaching the Transfer Station check-in booth, drivers will be required to present their CT License to the glass window for evaluation and permission to enter.
Contractors utilizing the transfer station for the disposal of debris, leaf and brush, will be expected to pay any charges incurred for their usage of the Transfer Station during this period of temporary restrictions. Contractors utilizing the Transfer Station will be logged by staff, and any unpaid fees will be documented. Contractors must pay all outstanding fees before their license to dump at the Station is renewed.
If you have questions, please contact Hamden Public Works at 203-287-2600.
