Subject: Thank you!
I want to thank everyone who came out to support the North Haven Fire Department and our fallen brother Matthias Wirtz. Today was a somber day that brought a beautiful closure to his life and career as a firefighter. You stood at attention in the pouring rain to pay respect to our brother as he departed to his final resting place.
Thank you to those who stood watch over the Town of Hamden, keeping our community safe so others could lend aid to our neighbor.
Thank you to our CERT member who set up our regional tent, so many could have temporary shelter from the elements.
Over the past week, our members have risen above all to lend aid on every platform to help our neighbors as they fight through this challenging time. Our members have covering shifts, responded with our Peer Support Team, made phone calls, house visits and attended the services with a tremendous showing. I could not be more proud and grateful for all of you, know that all of this is extremely appreciated.
The next few days, weeks and months will remain difficult, as we will all grieve in different ways. Please reach out for help, knowing that you are never alone, we are here to support one another. Our mental health is just as important as our physical, continue to watch over one another as together we are family.
