HAMDEN – Hamden CDBG COVID-19 Public Service Agency Grant Application Available
HAMDEN – The Town of Hamden has been notified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (H.U.D.) that it will receive a special allocation of $281,529 in Community Development Block Grant COVID-19 (CDBG-CV) funding authorized through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) in response to the historic nature of the public health and economic crisis posed by the Coronavirus Pandemic. Approximately $140,764 will be available for Public Service Agencies.
Public Service Agencies that are non-profits, education agencies, or government agencies are invited to apply for funding for activities that prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19. The purpose of these grants is to benefit low to moderate income persons by funding programs that respond to COVID-19 and its economic, housing, health, and other related impacts. The public service could either be a new service, or an existing service with a quantifiable increase in the level of service (i.e. must serve new clients). They must support efforts to respond to COVID-19 and minimize its effects on vulnerable populations and other impacted community members. All projects must serve low to moderate income Hamden residents, and meet all applicable CDBG regulatory requirements.
Applications are now available at https://www.hamden.com/communitydevelopment and they are due on August 7, 2020. Applicants should make sure to explain how the proposed public service activity is impacted by the COVID-19 emergency and how funds to support this activity will help the community recover.
