This is the same 1984 Pierce Dash that was assigned as Engine 2 in January 1985. Now designated as Engine 1, it is the department's spare. When this photo was taken on June 23, 2010, it was at Station 3 substituting for the Squad, which was being repaired.
At 25+ years of age, this pumper still looks pretty good. It is hoped that it will not share the same fate as the 1951 and 1968 Maxims.

This was Engine 2 two months after it was placed in service. Except for the light bar and the red wheels that are now white, it looks very much the same 25 years later.
(The twin to this piece, which was Engine 4 until 1998, is being used for parts.)

On December 8, 1984, about a week after Engine 2 was delivered, we used it for smoke house training at Wallingford Fire Headquarters. Once all driver/pump operators were trained, it was placed in service at Station 2 in early January 1985.
