With lots of input from all line personnel, the 10-Codes were replaced on July 12, 1984 with new radio codes that mirrored many of those had been used for years by the NHFD.

Revisions
"Signal 1" was added with the introduction of the Incident Command System later in 1984, as was "Signal 36."
"Signal 81," added in February 1986, was thought to be preferable at incidents of a suspicious nature where the property owner or occupant, hearing the request in "plain English," might attempt to tamper with evidence.
